Gina Montalto is a dancer and choreographer based out of New York City with New Jersey roots. She began her technical training at New Jersey School of Ballet, The American Academy of Ballet and at Livingston High School with their Theater Program. Gina transitioned into contemporary and modern dance while studying at Rutgers University and the County College of Morris where she received her Associates of Fine Arts, a Bachelor of Arts in Italian language and literature and a Master of the Art of Teaching Foreign Language. Post college, Gina taught Italian at her alma mater while also teaching dance and guest choreographing for several studios in New Jersey. She continued her professional training with Broadway Dance Center in their summer professional semester of 2013 and went on to complete an Associates in Fine Arts at the County College of Morris in New Jersey.

In New York City Gina’s freelance professional credits include Odman Felix’s Artsy-e Dance Company, Roberto Villanueva’s Balasole Dance Company ensemble, Vivake Khamsingsavath’s structured improvisation performance of “Hide and Seek” and his contemporary jazz/ hip hop fusion piece “Vulnerable”; Bryan Strimpel of BS Movement’s piece “All Each Other Has” for the Amalgamate Guest Artist Showcase  Martina Steflova’s piece “These Four Walls” performed at Dance Astoria, STREB company member Justina Grayman’s film “WOMAN VERSUS- A Dance Film”, Brandon Power’s Immersive Theater production “And It Felt Like A Kiss”, for Samantha Bergman in her showing of "women's liberation", and in Joe Monteleone's piece "Tetris:Traffic" in the 8th Amalgamate Guest Artist Showcase at City Center Studios.  

Gina has danced in two contemporary companies: Sonia Pennington's Introspective Movement Project from 2013-2017; and Laura Henry's Impact Movement Collective from 2016 -present. Some notable performances with Introspective include: ABC Channel 6 Philadelphia backup dancing for Matthew Schuler of the Voice in the Fourth of July Parade, Koresh Artists Showcases and the Brooklyn Dance Festival. With Impact Movement Collective Gina has performed a full length work “The Cave and the Light” and short works “Strewn”  and "Sanctuary" in various venues across New York City.

Gina’s own works have been performed in many showcases around New York City as well. “Quiet” premiered at the Chen Dance Center in their NewSteps New Choreographers Series January 2016 and has gone on to appear in Juan Michael Porter II's Moving Beauty Series at Hudson Guild, Mee Jung's Kodafe in NYC at Manhattan Movement Arts and Jessica Chen's Translate(Voices of Dance) showcase at Dixon Place.  The duet co-choreographed with Marcus Noble, “Cuffing Season” ,was danced at Donation Dance’s Holiday Showcase and Immersion: A Creators Collective Event.  “Conversation” and “Conversation 2” – a duet and a quintet- have been shown at several Creators Collective events as well as at the Kodafe Dance Festival in June of 2016, at lost:FOUND Dance Festival held by the KSSL Collective in July, at Movement in C’s “Appetizer: An Evening of Sampling” and the Artists in Flight Showcases in October and at the Sans Limites Fall Season at the Hudson Guild in November.  “Tribe” was performed in the DU Legacy2 Showcase at the Mark Morris Duffy Theater in Brooklyn and at the CBG Dance Festival at Access Theater.  A second duet, "A Synonym for Intimacy" was co-choreographed and performed with Nick Rodrigues at Fertile Ground in Queens. And finally her most recent work, "Hiraeth" , has been performed at the Sans Limites Spring Showcase, the That Which Connects Dance Festival at Rutgers Camden, and at the DU Legacy 3 Showcase at Brooklyn Music School Playhouse.

Gina is currently head choreographer for the competition team at StarStruck Dance Studio in New Jersey while continuing to dance and and create in New York City.
